2017, c’est aussi le 60e anniversaire de l’Helvetica. Le Studio espagnol Husmee a imaginé une célébration de l’Helvetica en créant une série d’affiches par des designers en hommage à la vieille dame toujours aussi moderne !

Index Graphik, ressources graphiques et typographiques. Un blog sur le graphisme et la typo d’Augustin Manaranche, graphiste indépendant (Étampes), fondateur du site avec toute une équipe.
J’aime bien ce blog, les articles sont assez approfondis et on retrouve des portraits de typographes ou graphistes célèbres, des conférences, des playlist, et des liens pertinents. C’est agréable, fluide, documenté et cela ne reste jamais à la surface des choses, avec des ressources précises. Un blog qui ne tombe pas dans la facilité ni dans l’anecdotique.
Pour exemple : un article très complet sur l’esperluette, un autre sur les papiers d’orange (j’ai un petit faible pour celui-ci ayant été une grande collectionneuse de ces papiers). Un portrait très complet d’Isodro Ferrer et d’Aldo Novarese et pleins d’autres pépites.

Nicole Dextras (Canada) is an environmental artist working in a multitude of media including sculpture,
interactive public installation and photography.
Un travail d’artiste, de photographe et de graphiste en interaction avec l’espace naturel. Par exemple son travail sur sur les vêtements dans des blocs de glace : “IceShifts is a series of photographs consisting of deconstructed garments frozen into blocks of ice, which are then photographed. This new artwork grew out of a photographic study of fabric suspended in water, which evolved into freezing clothing and enabling the light to shine through it. My first outdoor experiments in 2005 instigated a profound shift in my artistic practice, moving from static artworks towards one of installation and a time-based methodology. Today ice has become both a photographic and sculptural medium and it’s ephemeral nature speaks to the deep correlation between humans and the biological environment.”

Un projet de diplôme de Thibaud de Fournas. Simplicité et élégance, un bon mix entre typo et animation et pleins d’astuces visuelles pour faire passer un message pédagogique.
”GRADUATION PROJECT.
Animation which shows typography evolution from paper to screen.
The animation is divided in two parts.
The first deals with the basic rules of typesetting.
The second, is about the evolution of typography in cinema.
Used mainly for Opening and Closing title.

Dan Collier, Graphic designer, Londres. Projets typo et beaucoup de développement web, j’ai retenu ce projet de “Typographic links” (Merci à Jeremy Bornerand pour la référence).
Un des élèves de l’ECV a travaillé son projet de mémoire sur le même thème, le brainstorming.
“Typographic Links is a hand-sewn book which maps interesting links and connections throughout the world of typography. Red threads are used as three-dimensional ‘hyperlinks’ to guide the reader through the pages. Created in 2007, it was on display at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York in 2011 as part of the Talk To Me exhibition.”
Jean-Baptiste Levée. “Jean-Baptiste Levée is a typeface designer with a focus on exclusive corporate fonts. He is a co-founder of the Bureau des Affaires Typographiques, the first French typeface design & distribution company on the Internet. He designed over a hundred typefaces for industry, moving pictures, fashion and publishing. His designs are featured in the permanent collections of the printing Museum in Lyon (France) and the Klingspor Museum in Offenbach (Germany). He is also the country delegate for France at ATypI. He is a regular lecturer and teaches typeface design at the Caen-Cherbourg school of Arts & Media, at the Amiens school of Arts & Design and at the University of Corte. He is the president of Zone Opaque, artists’ books factory in Pantin (FR). He is a typography writer and editor on pointypo.com.”

Eli Kleppe, graphiste norvégien, basé à Berlin : “I love working across disciplines, combining new technology with traditional techniques, from vector graphics to handmade crafts”. Joli travail sur le typo et la matière (Haiku). Allez faire aussi un tour sur son blog (pas très à jour…) où il ya quelques vidéo intéressante sur du travail autour de la lettre.
“Mary Kate McDevitt is a letterer and illustrator living and working in Portland, OR. Mary Kate graduated from Tyler School of Art in 2007 with a degree in Graphic Design and Illustration. She worked as a designer at a studio in Lancaster, PA for 2 years. In 2010, Mary Kate moved out to Portland, OR to pursue a career as a freelance illustrator and artist.” Jolies réferences en terme de typo “retro/moderne”, la gestion de l’espace et l’harmonie des différentes typos dans un look un peu vintage. Pas si facile que ça à réussir, Il y en a plus d’un qui s’est cassé les dents à essayer.
Wanda Priem, une graphiste en Afrique du Sud, fraichement sortie de l’Université et déjà une jolie maîtrise de la typo.
